According to an AppleInsider report Friday, Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) is set to build 400,000 MacBook Airs in June.

Citing a source from Concord Securities, AppleInsider claims Apple placed an order for 380,000 units of Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) Sandy Bridge-based 11.6- and 13.3-inch MacBook Airs earlier this month.

Of the total, just over half will be in the 11.6-inch variety, the contact stated.

Production of existing MacBook Airs is expected to wind down to about 80,000 units this month.
