Apple (AAPL) Ramping-Up MacBook Air Production

According to an AppleInsider report Friday, Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) is set to build 400,000 MacBook Airs in June.
Citing a source from Concord Securities, AppleInsider claims Apple placed an order for 380,000 units of Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) Sandy Bridge-based 11.6- and 13.3-inch MacBook Airs earlier this month.
Of the total, just over half will be in the 11.6-inch variety, the contact stated.
Production of existing MacBook Airs is expected to wind down to about 80,000 units this month.
AppleInsider noted Apple shipped over one million MacBook Airs in the first quarter.
Apple shares are 1.2 percent lower this afternoon, last trading at $327.90.
