Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is set to unveil the update to its MacBook Pro lineup on Thursday, shortly after a press event from Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC) to show off its new Light Peak (Thunderbolt) technology, which Apple will likely integrate into its computers.
The report of the announcement comes from CNET on Thursday, which stated that Intel sent out invitations for a press briefing to discuss the "new technology that is about to appear on the market."
According to CNET the Thunderbolt technology, which includes High-Speed I/O and Mini DisplayPort functionality, will be implemented by Apple in its forthcoming MacBook lineup.
Around 7:30 a.m. EST on Thursday, Bloomberg reported that the Apple online store was down, suggesting the company is preparing a launch.
