iSuppli lowered its outlook for global flash revenue growth because of the weakness in consumer spending and order reductions from various companies. NAND flash is used in consumer-electronics applications, such as flash storage , MP3 players and USB flash drives.
Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) cut its 2008 NAND order forecast and told suppliers that its demand will slow in 2008 compared to 2007, says iSuppli contacts. This is expected to have a significant impact on the NAND market because Apple is one of the largest buyers of flash-memory for its iPods.
This may have an impact on suppliers’ financial results, such as STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) and Micron Technology (NYSE: MU)
