Could it be in anticipation of the next-generation iPad, or simply waning demand?
Well, whatever it is...Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is looking to control inventory more, and trimming orders in the process, according to Digitimes Thursday.
Sales of the iPad 2 were 11.12 million last quarter, and component makers have said recent orders called for the production of 15 to 16 million units, with a stockpile of 4 to 5 million units being left in the supply chain.
On the move, LG Display (NYSE: LPL) saw shipments decline from 3 million in September to 2.5 million in October. Samsung shipments were flat at 2 million units, and Chimei Innolux reported a decrease from 700,000 units in September to 350,000 in October.
