Apple'(AAPL) Said to Send Some iPad, iPhone Work to Pegatron

September 17, 2012 4:51 PM EDT
According to reports out Monday, the production of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) (rumored) iPad mini won't rest solely in the hands of Foxconn.

The Economic Daily News of Taiwan says Pegatron may have garnered about 50 percent to 60 percent of orders for the new device.

Production is expected at 5 million iPad minis monthly, the report stated.

Pegatron is also expected to be part of iPhone 5 production, which, given rapid pre-orders reported in the first 24 hours of availability, would be a smart move on Apple's part.

Shares of Apple ended higher on the session, hitting the $700 level in after-hours trading.
