Apple's (AAPL) iPad is Taking Over the World

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPad numbers are beginning to enter ridiculous territory.

According to Digitimes Thursday, Apple supplier Foxconn expects to ship 20 million units of Apple's iPad 2 in the quarter. This would add markedly for Foxconn's expectations for 60 percent growth in overall shipments.

Foxconn declined to name specific clients included in the total numbers.

Last quarter, Apple reported shipping 9.25 million iPad 2 units, a 183 percent increase from the same period last year.

Heading into the holiday 2011 shopping season, an over 100 percent increase in shipments (which Apple says represents the total number shipped, rather than the number built and supplied by Foxconn) bodes well for Apple, setting up yet another stunning quarterly report.

Oh, and Apple is expected to release the next iPhone sometime soon as well, as Sprint (NYSE: S) is being rumored as another potential carrier.

Apple is just 0.4 percent higher on the session.
