Apple's (AAPL) iOS Being Selected by More U.S. Smartphone Buyers

Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iOS is continuing to gain popularity in the U.S., and Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android may have already peaked.
Nielsen data today suggests that more consumers chose Apple's operating system over the last three months. Of all smartphones bought, Apple was chosen 17 percent of the time, compared to 10 percent in the quarter ended February.
Over the same time period, users selected Android 27 percent of the time, flat from last quarter.
Not surprisingly, Research In Motion devices saw a dramatic decline, going from 11 percent to 6 percent.
Overall, U.S. customers selecting a smartphone over a general feature phone increased from 34 percent to 55 percent, on a year-over-year comparison.
Apple shares are up 0.4 percent on the session, Google is up 1.7 percent, and RIM is up 0.3 percent.
