Sales aren't the only hot thing about Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) new iPad.

According to reports out Tuesday, Apple's iPad runs about 19 percent warmer than its predecessor. This is a good thing if you're an Eskimo using the device while its in your lap, but bad otherwise.

One Dutch website with the charmingly deceptive name Tweakers.net, said the new iPad runs at about 92.5-degrees Fahrenheit while running GLBenchmark. That's up from 82.9-degress Fahrenheit in the iPad 2. Tweakers.net, using an infrared camera to conduct the test, said the hottest part of the new iPad was the lower right, where the processor is located.

Apple's recommended temp to run the new iPad is 32- to 95-degrees Fahrenheit.

Tweakers.net suggests the GPU might also be the cause of an increase in temps, as the A5X processor now has a heat spreader to keep heat under control.
