Amazon.com (AMZN) Tops eBay (EBAY) in November

For the first time since December 2007, Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) has topped eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) in terms of unique website visitors. Typically, Amazon.com's unique visitors lags behind eBay, and Amazon.com actually only beat eBay by 250k visitors in December '07. But, the new Nielsen-Online data surprisingly shows a much larger difference between the two companies.

Nielsen-Online data shows that Amazon.com received 2.244 million more unique visitors than eBay for the month of November 2008. This is a significant gain for Amazon over eBay, and hopefully, for eBay shareholders, this is not a sign of sellers and buyers taking their merchandise and dollars over to Amazon.com.
