Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is said to have received federal clearance to test its latest drone designs.
TechCrunch said Friday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will allow Amazon to test the latest Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) its working on. News comes following Amazon griping last month that the approval process by the FAA was much too slow and the company was already cleared to test its UAVs in other countries.
Embedded below is a letter from the FAA to Amazon. As of right now, details about Amazon's designs are being kept confidential, though the company will need to stay within FAA regulation of UAVs not being able to travel higher than 400 feet, weighing up to 55 pounds, and traveling at less than 100 miles per hour.
Shares of Amazon are just about flat Friday afternoon.
