At NASA's UM Convention today, Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) unveiled a planned to overcome some of the potential challenges in using unmanned aircraft to deliver goods, as well as for general drone safety.
One element is re-designated airspace. Certain altitudes above ground would allow for certain travel (high-speed, low-speed, etc.), while there would also be zones to avoid completely.
Airspace management was also cited as something that needed to be improved upon. Amazon suggested that there needs to be a better solution versus using the current air traffic controller system, which puts limitations on how many objects can safely be in or near one location at a certain time.
