Amazon.com (AMZN) Lockboxes Pulled at Staples (SPLS), RadioShack (RSH)

September 20, 2013 9:36 AM EDT
Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) and RadioShack (NYSE: RSH) are on watch as the initiative to have Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) lockers in-store for customers failed to meet expectations.

The NY Post notes the both retailers have pulled the lockers recently. An initiative between Amazon and the two retailers began almost a year ago. While Staples said it didn't meet goals set between itself and Amazon, RadioShack said the plan didn't fit with company strategy.

It wasn't made clear how long shipments would take to arrive at the lockboxes or whether shipping to those locations would be free. Amazon offers free two-day shipping on select products to customers' homes via its Prime membership program.

Share of Amazon are up at the start Friday.
