Amazon (AMZN) Tablet May Be Bigger than Originally Thought (AAPL) (GOOG)

Foxconn Electronics (or Hon Hai Precision Industry in Taiwan) has reportedly received a tablet PC order from Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN).

Following news Amazon is allegedly going to release a new Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android-based tablet in the fall ahead of the holiday shopping season, along with two new Kindle e-Readers, Digitimes reports the orders from Amazon are for a 10.1-inch tablet.

Sources Wednesday's suggested Amazon could release a tablet which is expected to measure only nine-inches across, with no camera.

Digitimes notes shipments are expected to begin in 2012.

Further data shows Quanta Computer has begun shipping a 7-inch model to Amazon.

The move bolsters Foxconn's position with Amazon. The Taiwan-based manufacturer has already been making Kindle's for Amazon.

Hopefully the addition doesn't overwhelm Foxconn. Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) has relied on the company for shipments of its iPad and iPad 2 tablets, with 38 to 40 million iPad's and 80 to 85 million iPhones expected to ship for Apple in 2011.

Though sources have indicated shipments of the 10.1-inch tablet won't begin until 2012, Amazon may want to launch the new device in late-2011 for the holiday season.
