Welp, the party might be over.
According to Digitimes Friday, orders for Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) Kindle Fire media tablet might be cut in half for the first quarter of 2012. Digitimes cites ODMs on the data.
Sources said shipments of panels for the Kindle, as well as Barnes & Noble's (NYSE: BKS) NOOK tablet, are likely to drop to 800,000 to 1 million per month at the start of 2012. The report follows strong holiday sales for the duo.
Despite the dire outlook, panel suppliers like TPK Holdings and Wintek have said the drop was expected and won't have a major impact on overall numbers.
Digitimes said Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) touch panel orders from ODMs still remain "robust."
Shares of Amazon are indicated about 1.5 percent lower early Friday.
