Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) shares are ticking higher Thursday following reports that it will be eliminating about 5,490 jobs globally. The move comes following the cost-cutting plan announced in July.
It total, about 3,300 jobs will be cut in Europe and 1,490 in France, Alcatel's home country.
The July announcement had Alcatel cutting "around 5,000 jobs," making today announcement a little richer than expected.
