Airport Traffic in Las Vegas Down 1.2% During September

In a e-mail sent after today's close, Nevada's Clark County released airport traffic results for Las Vegas during the month of September. Passenger traffic fell 1.2% to 3.34 million during the month, with traffic to Las Vegas' McCarran down 10.2% in the 9 months up to September.
Although the results were down, traders may be viewing the data as better than expected; stocks of several casino operators appear to be moving higher on the news. In the after-hours session, Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) is up almost a percent to $16.75 and MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGM) is up 0.9% to $11.90.
