Ackman Answers A Question On Sears Holdings (SHLD)

October 6, 2008 3:29 PM EDT
Below is a question an audience member asked Pershing Square's Bill Ackman today at the Value Investing Congress about Sears Holdings (Nasdaq: SHLD).

Question: Is it safe to assume your lack of activism in Sears as anything?
Bill Ackman says: It is safe to assume when someone owns more than 50% of the company, we are relying on his [Eddie Lampert] activism.

Ackman still has his position in Sears and likely is betting on Eddie Lampert's superior ability in allocating capital.

Sears Holdings Corporation is the parent company of Kmart Holding Corporation (Kmart) and Sears, Roebuck and Co. (Sears).
