AT&T (T) To Get Another Revolutionary Smartphone

AT&T (NYSE: T) should have another revolutionary phone on its hands in the coming months, with a social twist.

According to several reports, HTC will be manufacturing the ChaCha and Salsa smartphones, the first with a dedicated Facebook button, exclusively for AT&T. The announcement comes just days following the official release of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone on Verizon's (NYSE: VZ) network.

Both of the devices will run on Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android 2.3 platform, and have a secondary lens for video chatting. With the press of the Facebook button, users will be able to instantly send photos and comments to their Facebook account.

The ChaCha will have a full QWERTY keyboard, and the Salsa will use a
3.4-inch touchscreen for input. Both will have WiFi access.

Investors may be holding their breath a little, following the blowup of Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) "media device" the KIN in Q2 last year. However, photos and specs on the devices point to the two being useful smartphones, with the addition of quicker, easier access to Facebook. On the flip side, Facebook has literally hundreds of millions of regular users, making the ChaCha and Salsa potential hot, "must have" items through 2011 and into 2012.

The phones will be available in Europe and Asia in Q211, and in the U.S. later this year.
