A Palm Pre Delay? Say It Ain't So
According to a post at ZDNet.com, there are rumors Palm's (Nasdaq: PALM) highly anticipated 'Pre' is being delayed.
ZDNet.com followed-up the original report with a response from Palm's online communications director Jon Zilber, who said, "Palm delay rumors are fiction. Pre is still on target to be available in the first half of 2009."
Palm is relying heavily on the new Pre, and sales of other Palm devices are falling off a cliff. In fact, Palm had a miserable sales warning Tuesday evening, but, despite the lower guidance, the stock didn't react much to the news as all hope is now on the Pre. A Pre delay would be detrimental, as the company's cash burn is a major concern.
Today, shares of PALM are down 4.8% to $6.72.
