The founder of the controversial imageboard website 4chan is about to start the next chapter in his life...at Google.
Chris Poole posted the following to Twitter on Monday:
My next chapter - Today I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined @Google: https://t.co/KMpxgjrZDP
— moot (@moot) March 7, 2016
While it wasn't made clear what Poole will be doing at Google, he posted the following to his Tumblr blog: "I can’t wait to contribute my own experience from a dozen years of building online communities, and to begin the next chapter of my career at such an incredible company."
4chan has been mired in mixed criticism for its openness and anonymity, allowing users to post a variety of content without expecting to incur too much wrath. As you can imagine, some of the content can be unsettling, though that has been largely segmented to a few sections of the site. Regardless, we won't be linking to the website today, but will mention that it is generally regarded as not very work safe.
