Tegna Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group (NASDAQ: NXST), has appointed Joan Barrett, Kate Morris and Brad Ramsey as group general managers, according to a company statement.
The three appointments, effective immediately, expand the leadership structure put in place by CEO Patrick Paolini. Each of the new group general managers will oversee local station general managers across two of Tegna's six regional divisions.
Barrett, who has served as president and general manager of WCNC in Charlotte since 2020 and took on oversight of WFMY in Greensboro in 2024, will oversee Tegna's Northeast and Southeast regions. She previously held leadership roles at KDVR/KWGN in Denver and led television operations for Schurz Communications in Wichita.
Morris, president and general manager of KPNX in Phoenix since 2020, will oversee the Midwest and West regions. She also oversees KMSB and KTTU in Tucson and previously led KTVB in Boise, where she rose from executive news director to general manager.
Ramsey, who most recently served as senior vice president of revenue and led Tegna's sports rights strategy, will oversee the Texas and Mid-South regions. He previously spent seven years as president and general manager of WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth.
"Viewers' habits and advertisers' needs are constantly shifting, and we have to innovate quickly to serve both," Paolini said in the statement.
Tegna operates 64 local television stations across 51 U.S. markets. The company operates independently of Nexstar under a Hold Separate Order issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California on April 17, 2026.
