Similarweb names Michael Akkerman as CEO, effective November 2026

Similarweb Ltd. (NYSE: SMWB) has appointed Michael Akkerman as Chief Executive Officer, effective November 2, 2026, succeeding founder Or Offer, who announced his departure in May 2026 after nearly two decades leading the company.

Akkerman currently serves as Chief Business Officer at Digital Turbine (NASDAQ: APPS). He previously held the role of Chief Revenue Officer at data.ai, formerly known as App Annie, where he oversaw sales, marketing, business development, and corporate strategy. Earlier positions include Chief Product and Strategy Officer at Cardlytics (NASDAQ: CDLX), as well as senior commercial roles at Uber (NYSE: UBER) and Pinterest (NYSE: PINS). He holds a degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Akkerman will be based in Similarweb's New York office. Or Offer will remain involved during a transition period to support continuity for customers, partners, and employees.

Harel Beit-On, Chairman of the Board, said the appointment followed "a thorough and disciplined search process," supported by executive search firm Spencer Stuart.

According to the company's statement, there is no change to its strategy, operations, or financial outlook as a result of the leadership transition.
