Five9 Inc. (NASDAQ: FIVN) announced that its board of directors has appointed Amit Mathradas as chief executive officer and director, effective February 2, 2026. Mathradas will succeed board chairman Mike Burkland, who announced his retirement from the CEO position in July.

Mathradas previously served as CEO of Nintex, a business orchestration platform company serving over 7,000 organizations across more than 90 countries. Before Nintex, he was president and chief operating officer at Avalara, where he helped grow the business by over 250% during four years before its acquisition by Vista Equity Partners for $8.4 billion in 2022.

Burkland has led Five9 for nearly 18 years, during which annual revenue grew from $10 million to over $1 billion according to lead independent director Robert Zollars. Burkland will remain on the board to facilitate the transition.

The appointment follows a search process conducted by an executive recruitment firm and overseen by a committee of independent directors. Mathradas holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and previously held positions at PayPal, Web.com, and Dell.

Five9 plans to hold an investor day in 2026 to provide details on its strategy and long-term financial outlook. The San Ramon, California-based company provides customer experience platform services to over 3,000 customers globally.
