XPeng (XPEV) Releases Additional Details Surrounding New G9 SUV

April 7, 2022 12:53 PM EDT

XPeng inc. (NYSE: XPEV) debuted their new G9 SUV near the end of 2021 during the Guangzhou Auto Show. The display was minimal, showing the vehicle's appearance and some technical information. Wednesday, XPeng went a step further, releasing a teaser confirming that the car will be equipped with air suspension, 5D immersive audio, and evolved voice control functions.

The Xpeng G9 SUV will be equipped with Xpilot 4.0, built on two NVIDIA DRIVE Orin systems-on-a-chip, achieving 508 trillion operations per second. Xpilot 4.0 is also equipped with two lidars and an 8-million-pixel front-view camera.

XPeng said that the company is set to launch its G9 SUV in June. The company is seeking growth beyond China by expanding into the European market. XPeng started delivering its G3 SUVs to customers in Norway in late 2018. The company plans to open two additional stores in the Netherlands later this year and other stores in major cities across the country over the next few years.

On April 4, UBS analyst Paul Gong reiterated a Hold rating on XPeng stock and lowered the price target to $34 from $48. The analyst explained, "While XPeng appears to be the biggest gainer in brand recognition in the UBS 2022 Evidence Lab EV consumer survey and remains in the lead in autonomous driving technology, we believe it is also most vulnerable to rising raw material costs."
