William Blair analyst, Bhavan Suri, reiterated his Outperform rating on shares of Twilio (NYSE: TWLO) after shares closed down 6.62% on an AWS blog post about Pinpoint - Amazon’s new two-way text messaging app. Investors believed Pinpoint to be a competing solution but the analyst suspects AWS Pinpoint is being powered by Twilio’s platform which would mean the sell-off is overblown.

Jeff Lawson, Twilio chief executive officer, tweeted his excitement about helping AWS launch Pinpoint stating "Excited that @twilio is now helping to power engagement on @AWS Pinpoint, with their launch of 2-way SMS!".

The analyst stated "we believe Pinpoint is an extension of Amazon’s simple notification service (SNS), which sends out bulk notifications/messaging communications and is also in large part powered by Twilio, as it provides marketing campaign capabilities. Overall, we believe the sell-off was unwarranted and believe this only further strengthens Twilio's relationship with Amazon as it now has multiple applications running on Twilio’s platform (Chime, SNS, and Pinpoint)."
