Whitney Tilson is pinching himself today. No Mr. Tilson this is not a dream.
Tilson, who has had poor timing on many of the market momentum darlings in the recent past, is looking great today.
First, his long bet on Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) is up nearly 10 percent in part on rumors of a Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) bid. After getting battered on the short side, Tilson went long Netflix at the end of October. After a rough start on this trade, he now looks to be in the green. Shares of Netflix were around $75 when he first announced that he was going long. Today they are nearing $80.
Second, his short bet on Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) continues to fall. Shares are down 4 percent Wednesday following negative comments from analysts at Bernstein.
Another Tilson short, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (Nasdaq: GMCR), is down 1.2 percent today.
Maybe the hedge fund manager's luck is finally turning.
