The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) announced an enterprise-wide transformation plan designed to generate $125 million to $150 million in annualized EBITDA improvement by 2028.

The Cincinnati-based media company said it will achieve the improved EBITDA through cost savings and revenue growth initiatives that incorporate technology including artificial intelligence and automation. The plan aims to increase revenue yield from existing businesses while maintaining the company's local and national news, sports and entertainment programming.

"Scripps is nearly 150 years old, and we have thrived for so long because doing well by doing good is in our DNA," said President and CEO Adam Symson. "We are taking E.W. Scripps' founding mission and values for the enterprise, overlaying today's company vision to create connection, and doing so with operating principles and a cost structure we would have if we were to be founded today."

Scripps reaffirmed its previously issued guidance for the fourth quarter and year-end 2025 results, which are scheduled to be reported after market close on February 25. The company expects 2026 financial performance to benefit from mid-term election spending, Winter Olympics coverage on its 11 NBC stations, and World Cup competitions in North America.

The company gathered 200 leaders in Cincinnati to coordinate the transformation focused on revenue and EBITDA growth and expansion into new markets. Scripps plans to provide additional details about the transformation plan, including timing of savings realization and implementation costs, during its February 26 earnings call.

Scripps operates more than 60 television stations across 40-plus markets and reaches households nationally through Scripps News and entertainment brands including ION, Bounce, Grit and Laff. The company also operates Scripps Sports, serving professional and college sports organizations.
