JCP Dec Comps Up 2.2%; Guides

J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) comparable department store sales increased 2.2 percent for the five weeks ended Dec. 31, 2005, while total department store sales increased 3.1 percent. As a result, management is raising previously announced fourth quarter earnings guidance of $1.58 per share to $1.60 per share (cons is $1.60)
