GRI Bio Inc. (NASDAQ: GRI) reported first quarter 2026 financial results and provided updates on its drug development programs. The biotechnology company focuses on Natural Killer T cell modulators for inflammatory, fibrotic and autoimmune diseases.

The company reported cash and cash equivalents of approximately $11.0 million as of March 31, 2026, compared to $8.2 million at December 31, 2025. GRI Bio expects current cash resources will fund planned operations into the second quarter of 2027.

Net loss for the quarter was approximately $2.0 million, compared to $3.0 million in the same period of 2025. Research and development expenses decreased to $0.4 million from $1.6 million year-over-year, primarily due to completion of the company's Phase 2a clinical trial of GRI-0621 in 2025. General and administrative expenses increased to $1.6 million from $1.4 million.

The company provided additional data from its Phase 2a trial of GRI-0621 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which enrolled 35 patients with approximately 80% on background standard-of-care treatments. The trial met its primary safety and tolerability endpoint.

According to the company, patients receiving GRI-0621 showed zero cough events compared to 25% in the placebo group, and 61% reduction in diarrhea despite higher use of nintedanib in the active treatment arm. The active arm also showed a forced vital capacity improvement of 99 mL overall and 139 mL in the standard-of-care combination subset versus placebo at 12 weeks.

GRI Bio also advanced its GRI-0803 program, a type 2 diverse Natural Killer T cell agonist for autoimmune diseases, toward investigational new drug-enabling activities. The company generated approximately $6.8 million in gross proceeds during the first quarter through its At The Market facility.
