COSTCO reports 8.7% August sales growth to $21.56 billion

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) reported net sales of $21.56 billion for August 2025, representing an 8.7% increase from $19.83 billion in the same period last year, according to a company statement.

For the 16-week fourth quarter ended August 31, 2025, the retailer posted net sales of $84.4 billion, an 8.0% increase compared to $78.2 billion in the prior year period. Full-year fiscal 2025 net sales reached $269.9 billion, up 8.1% from $249.6 billion in fiscal 2024.

Comparable sales for the four-week August period showed growth across all regions, with the U.S. posting 6.1%, Canada 6.8%, and other international markets 6.7%. Total company comparable sales increased 6.3% for the month.

E-commerce comparable sales demonstrated stronger performance, growing 18.4% in August, 13.6% for the fourth quarter, and 15.6% for the full fiscal year.

When excluding impacts from gasoline price changes and foreign exchange fluctuations, comparable sales performance was higher across most metrics. Total company comparable sales on this adjusted basis reached 6.9% for August, 6.4% for the fourth quarter, and 7.6% for the full year.

Costco operates 914 warehouses globally, including 629 locations in the United States and Puerto Rico, 110 in Canada, and 175 across other international markets including Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Korea.
