Walmart (WMT) Could Add a Streaming Service to its Membership Program - NYT

August 9, 2022 1:47 PM EDT

Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is reportedly exploring the option of adding a streaming service to its Walmart+ membership program.

According to a report by The New York Times on Tuesday, its sources told them the retail giant has held talks with major media companies about adding a streaming service to its membership program.

The move is said to be part of an effort to branch out its relationship with customers beyond its brick-and-mortar stores. Walmart is said to have spoken with companies such as Comcast, Disney, and Paramount in recent weeks as it assesses which service would add the most value.

The Walmart+ membership costs $12.95 per month and includes free shipping on orders, discounts on fuel, and a free six-month subscription to Spotify Premium.
