UBS cuts HubSpot rating as checks point to bumpier path

Investing.com -- UBS downgraded HubSpot to Neutral from Buy in a new note, citing a more mixed near-term setup, though it raised its price target to $310 from $290 to reflect a re-rating across the peer group.

Analyst Taylor McGinnis said channel checks point to uneven small business and new-customer demand, nascent AI monetization, intensifying competition down-market and potential go-to-market friction from HubSpot’s new pricing transition.

“With shares up >30% over the past month and now trading at ~12x CY27 EV/FCF, roughly in line with peers, we see a more balanced risk/reward,” McGinnis wrote.

UBS lowered its fiscal 2027 revenue growth forecast to 13% from 14.5% at constant currency, below the Street’s roughly 14%. The bank sees limited downside to 2026 guidance but potentially less upside.

Partners told UBS that the shift toward more consumption-based pricing could pressure average selling prices in the near term, though it creates more ways to monetize usage over time.

“We see potential NT execution risk as partners cited elongating sales cycles and complexity,” the analyst said.

AI adoption is progressing but remains early, with only 5% to 10% of customers buying additional credits. UBS noted that large language models and AI-native rivals are increasingly competitive down-market, though HubSpot’s system of record status appears durable.

“Net, we see LT AI monetization potential, but HUBS needs to demonstrate that its embedded AI provides differentiation vs rivals,” McGinnis said.
