U.S. Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned today.
UPDATE - Pierson was said to resign over series of security lapses. The most event recent happened last weekend after one man hopped the White House fence and made it all the way into the East Room before he was subdued.
Pierson was the first female to hold the role of Secret Service Director.
The Department of Homeland Security announced Pierson's resignation today.
