U.S. Population to Top 312.7M Heading Into 2012

The U.S. Census Bureau predicts the total population to be 312,780,968 as the ball is dropping New Years Eve. The prediction indicates a gain of approx. 2.25 million from the previous year and 4.03 million from April 2010 (Census Day).

Other Census Bureau stats include:

• In January 2012, one birth is expected to occur every eight seconds in the United States and one death every 12 seconds;
  
• Net international migration is expected to add one person to the U.S. population every 46 seconds in January 2012.
