China TechFaith Wireless (Nasdaq: CNTF) 35% HIGHER; announced that China's Ministry of Public Security Information Center has awarded TechFaith a contract to custom develop a pocket PC phone for the police forces in two provinces in China.
EXACT Sciences (Nasdaq: EXAS) 28% LOWER; announced after the close on Tuesday that it has received a Warning Letter from the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Office of In Vitro Diagnostic Device Evaluation and Safety regarding regulatory matters related to its DNA technology for colorectal cancer screening. According to the FDA, PreGen-Plus(TM), a medical device manufactured by EXACT, needs to undergo premarket approval.
The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) 12.4% LOWER; announced that based on year-to-date third quarter results, it does not expect to achieve its previously stated full year fiscal 2007 earnings guidance.
WebMD (Nasdaq: WBMD) 12% LOWER; announced it will expect lower 3Q earnings. The Company reported revenues will be in the range of $86 to $87 million, down from prior guidance of $89 to $94 million. The analyst consensus is $92.58 million. The Company sees EBITDA of $22.8 to $23.8 million, down from prior guidance of $22.0 to $24.5 million. The CEO of WebMD, Wayne Gattinella, said many positive factors achieved during 2007 will be "more weighted to 2008 than we had expected."
The Midland Company (Nasdaq: MLAN) 10.3% HIGHER; signed a definitive merger agreement with Munich Re, whereby Munich Re will acquire all of Midland's outstanding stock. Under the terms of the agreement, stockholders of The Midland Company will receive $65.00 in cash per share. This represents a 13.5% premium above the October 16, 2007 closing price of $57.27.
Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) 9% HIGHER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.11, 3 cents better than the analysts estimates $0.08. Revenues for the quarter were $1.283 billion, versus the consensus of $1.24 billion. Yahoo sees Q4 revenues of $1.31-$1.45 billion versus the consensus of $1.37 billion.
Heelys Inc., (NASDAQ: HLYS) 8% HIGHER; is expanding their line of wheeled footwear, apparel, bags and accessories to include a "non-wheeled" shoe line - the Gamer by Heelys. A first of its kind, the new Heelys Gamer shoe embraces a favorite American pastime by featuring a simulated game controller on the outsole of the shoe.
Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) 5% HIGHER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.31, 1 cents better than the analysts estimates $0.30. Revenues for the quarter were $10.1 million, versus the consensus of $9.62 billion. Q3 gross margin is 52.4%. Q4 revenue guidance $10.5 billion to $11.1 billion versus consensus of $10.42 billion.
Align Technology (Nasdaq: ALGN) 4.9% HIGHER; Jim Cramer highlighted Align Technology on CNBC.
JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM) 3.8% HIGHER; Reports Q3 EPS of $0.97, above the consensus of $0.90. Revenues came in at $16.1 billion versus the consensus of $16.6 billion
Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) 3.5% LOWER; ClearBridge, an owner of about 14% of Cablevision's public stock and three other large institutional shareholders that together control about 20% of the vote -- Gamco Investors Inc., T. Rowe Price and Marathon Asset Management -- have already indicated their intention to oppose the buyout at the shareholder meeting scheduled for next Wednesday.
Syntax-Brillian Corporation (Nasdaq: BRLC) 3% HIGHER; issued a statement denying claims of intellectual property infringement leveled against the company by Funai and announced that the company will vigorously defend itself in any pending litigation.
Piper Jaffray Companies (NYSE: PJC) 2.5% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.28, versus the consensus of $0.55. Revenues came in at $92.9 million versus the consensus of $117.6 million.
LKQ Corp. (Nasdaq: LKQX) 1.8% HIGHER; Cramer highlights the stock on CNBC's Mad Money.
United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) 1.7% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $1.21, above the consensus of $1.16. Revenues came in at $13.9 billion versus the consenus of $13.55 billion. United Technologies said for the year they now see EPS in the range of $4.22 - $4.25, or 14 percent growth and at the top end of our prior range of $4.15 - $4.25. United Technologies now expect revenues for the year in the range of $54 billion, up from our previous outlook of $53 billion. The Wall Street consensus is $4.24 and $53.3 billion.
Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO) 1% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.71, versus the consensus of $0.68. Revenues came in at $7.69 billion versus the consensus of $7.3 billion. Unit case volume increased 6 percent in the third quarter. Coca-Cola said international unit case volume was up 8 percent, led by 6 percent growth in Trademark Coca-Cola.
