Discovery Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSCO) 17% HIGHER; announced encouraging results from its recently completed Phase 2 clinical trial of Surfaxin for the prevention and treatment of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, a debilitating and chronic lung disease typically affecting premature infants who have suffered Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. (NYSE: CBG) 6.4% HIGHER; will replace BellSouth Corp. (NYSE: BLS) in the S&P 500 index after the close of trading on Thursday, October 12. BellSouth is being acquired by S&P 500 and S&P 100 Index constituent AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) in a deal expected to close on or about that date, pending final approvals.
Sealy Corp. (NYSE: ZZ) 4.2% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.30, cents better than estimates.(0.30) Revenues increased 6.4% to $415.1 million. Third quarter results include incremental pre-tax expenses of $6.0 million related to the launch of Sealy's new products and $0.4 million of incremental expense for non-cash compensation versus the comparable prior year period.
AMN Healthcare Services Inc. (NYSE: AHS) 3.8% HIGHER; replace Internet Security Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: ISSX) in the S&P SmallCap 600 index after the close of trading on a date to be announced. Internet Security Systems is being acquired by S&P 500 and S&P 100 index constituent International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) in a deal that is still pending final approvals.
UTStarcom Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI) 2.4% HIGHER; said it is exploring a variety of strategic alternatives to enhance stockholder value. The company established a special committee of the board and retained Merrill Lynch & Co. as its financial adviser.
Yum! Brands Inc. (NYSE: YUM) 1.4% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.83, 8 cents better than estimates.(0.75) Revenues were $2.28 billion vs. $2.28 billion consensus. Raises FY EPS to $2.89 from $2.83. The company's prior EPS guidance for 2006 was at least $2.83. The consensus is $2.84.
Urologix Inc. (Nasdaq: ULGX) INDICATED LOWER; said it anticipates that revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2007 will be approximately $5.4 million, compared to $6.2 million in the same period in fiscal year 2006. The consensus is $6.7 million.
