PPD Inc. (NASDAQ: PPDI) 11% LOWER; reported Q2 earnings of $0.36 per share, in-line with estimates. ($0.36) Revenues came in at $350 million versus the consensus of $329.8 million. Expects 2007 net revenue, excluding reimbursed out-of- pockets, to be in the range of $1.29 billion to $1.34 billion, compared to previous guidance of $1.34 billion to $1.39 billion. Sees FY07 EPS in the range of $1.35 to $1.39, compared to previous guidance of $1.46 to $1.54. (Consensus is $1.52).

CalAmp (NASDAQ: CAMP) 10% LOWER; reported Q1 loss of $0.41 (GAAP EPS was $0.48) per share vs. consensus for a loss of $0.49. Revenues came in at $47.4 million versus the consensus of $44.9 million. Sees Q2 revenues in the range of $32 to $35 million, with a net loss (ex-items) in the range of $0.05 to $0.09 per diluted share. Q2 revenue consensus is $40.52 million, EPS is a loss of $0.08.

TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. (Nasdaq: TQNT) 5% LOWER; Sees Q2 ESP of $0.01 ($0.02-$0.03 ex-stock expenses), versus the consensus of $0.06.

Champion (NYSE: CHB) 5% HIGHER; reported Q2 earnings of $0.10 per share, 4 cents better than estimates. ($0.06) Revenues came in at $330.4 million versus the consensus of $329.4 million.

3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) 4.36% HIGHER; According to reports from WSJ's Deal Journal blog, 3Com has been approached by possible buyers, including private-equity firms Silver Lake Partners and Bain Capital, in the past couple months. Another company that may be interested in 3Com is Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT).

RLI Corp. (NYSE: RLI) 3.8% HIGHER; Reports Q2 EPS of $2.04 (operating earnings was $1.64) vs. $1.04 consensus. (May not be comparable due to $15.0 million pretax ($0.40 per share) net realized investment gains). Revenues were $171.5 million vs. $154.53 million consensus.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) 3.6% LOWER; Reports Q2 EPS of $0.19, in-line with estimates. Revenues came in at $8.68 billion versus the consensus of $8.54 billion. Sees Q3 revenues of $9-$9.6 billion versus the consensus of $9.36 billion. Q2 gross margin 46.9%

Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) 3.6% LOWER; Reports Q2 EPS of $0.11, in-line with estimates. Revenues came in at $1.244 billion, ex-TAC, versus the consensus of $1.24 billion. Sees Q3 revenues ex-TAC of $1.17-$1.31 billion versus the consensus of $1.3 billion. Sees FY revenues ex-TAC of $4.89-$5.19 billion versus the consensus of $5.19 billion.

Pulte Homes (NYSE: PHM) 3% LOWER; announced preliminary, unaudited financial and operating results for its second quarter 2007. The Company expects a loss in the range of $2.00 to $2.10 per share from continuing operations for the quarter, including impairments, land-related charges and restructuring charges. Pulte Homes anticipates that these impairments and land-related charges will be in the range of $740 million to $770 million for the second quarter 2007 on a pre-tax basis, or approximately $1.85 to $1.92 per share on an after-tax basis.

Crown Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CCK) 2% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.53, $0.51 ex-gain, versus the consensus of $0.45. Revenues came in at $1.99 billion versus the consensus of $1.95 billion.
