Hoku Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOKU) 16.8% HIGHER; The company and Global Expertise Wafer Division, a subsidiary of Solar-Fabrik AG (SFXG.DE), a vertically integrated solar power company, announced the signing of a definitive contract for Hoku Materials\' sale and delivery of polysilicon to Global Expertise Wafer Division over a seven-year period beginning in the second half of calendar year 2009. Under the contract, up to approximately $185 million may be payable to Hoku Materials during the seven-year period, subject to the achievement of certain polysilicon production and quality milestones, the acceptance of product deliveries and other conditions.
Panacos Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: PANC) 12.8% HIGHER; announced preliminary results from the 250 mg cohort of a Phase 2b study of bevirimat (PA-457) in patients failing HIV therapy due to drug resistance. Bevirimat plasma concentrations and antiviral effect were approximately double those seen in the first Phase 2b cohort that had used a suboptimal tablet formulation. No safety or tolerability issues with bevirimat arose in this cohort, consistent with previous clinical experience. The results of the 250 mg cohort support further dose escalation as planned in order to fully explore the dose-response relationship of bevirimat.
The Andersons, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDE) 8.6% HIGHER; revised full-year earnings per share estimates which are expected to exceed previous projections. In early May, the company indicated it anticipated full-year earnings in the range of $2.35 to $2.60 per diluted share. The company is now forecasting its 2007 earnings per diluted share to be between $2.80 and $3.05.
Dollar Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: DLLR) 4% LOWER; intends to offer, subject to market conditions and other factors, up to $150.0 million aggregate principal amount of senior convertible notes due 2027

Sonic (Nasdaq: SONC) 3.9% LOWER; Reports Q3 earnings of $0.31 per share, in-line with estimates. Sees Q4 EPS of $0.32-$0.33 versus the consensus of $0.34.
