SEC's White Plans 'Significant' Changes to Bond Market
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chair Mary Jo White is pushing for more transparency in the bond markets.
Speaking at the Economic Club in New York on Friday, White said she planned to make information about supply and demand in the bond market more widely available. It would allow for public dissemination of the best buy and sell orders being generated on alternative trading platforms and electronic trading networks.
White said the SEC will work with the FINRA and Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board of finalizing an outline for best execution for muni bonds and new rules for disclosure of added charges, also known as markups.
