Romney Takes Lead Over Obama in Latest Poll

The latest post-debate poll promises to turn the heat up on the Obama campaign.

Pew Research Center's latest poll showed that Republican hopeful Mitt Romney is leading President Obama 49 percent to 45 percent among likely voters. The strong showing for Romney follows last Wednesday's first presidential debate, which many say Romney easily won.

The new November 4th-6th Pew poll shows a dramatic turnaround from a September 12-16 Pew poll, which showed President Obama had a nine-point lead.

This is the second poll showing a strong Romney post-debate bounce. The Gallup tracking poll showed that Romney and Obama were tied at 47 percent among registered voters.

Pew showed that the favorable rating for Romney rose from 40 percent to 45 percent, while Obama's favorable rating dropped from 57 percent to 50.

As far as markets are concerned, a Romney victory is seen as a positive for insurers like UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH), Cigna Corp. (NYSE: CI) and Aetna Inc. (NYSE: AET) and negative for hospital stocks like Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC), Community Health Systems (NYSE: CYH) and HCA Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: HCA), as Romney promised to abolish ObamaCare.
