Investing.com -- Rocket Lab Corp (NASDAQ: RKLB) shares rose 5% in premarket trading Thursday following the company's announcement of a 20-launch agreement with Synspective, marking Rocket Lab's largest commercial Electron launch contract to date.
The multi-year deal will see Rocket Lab launch 20 StriX synthetic aperture radar satellites to sun-synchronous orbit from Launch Complex 1 between 2028 and 2031. The contract brings the total number of Electron missions for the Tokyo-based Earth observation company to 47, making Synspective Rocket Lab's largest launch customer. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Rocket Lab founder and CEO Sir Peter Beck said constellation builders seeking control come to Rocket Lab, noting that Synspective was one of Electron's earliest customers. Beck described the 20-launch deal as a vote of confidence in Electron and Rocket Lab's launch cadence, mission reliability, and orbital precision.
Synspective founder and CEO Dr. Motoyuki Arai said Electron's precision and reliability have been central to scaling the StriX constellation. He added that securing 20 dedicated launches provides long-term certainty for constellation expansion.
The agreement is the latest in a series of multi-launch contracts awarded to Rocket Lab this year, pushing the company's launch backlog beyond 100 missions.
Separately, Citi analyst John Godyn initiated coverage on Rocket Lab with a Buy rating and a $105 price target, representing approximately 51% upside from the stock's most recent closing price of $69.68. Godyn assigned a High Risk designation alongside the Buy rating, noting that Rocket Lab is one of the only companies delivering regular commercial access to orbit.
