Premarket movers: Qualcomm, Snap slide premarket; Unity surges
Investing.com - U.S. stock index futures were mixed on Thursday, with Nasdaq contracts falling as semiconductor and data-center stocks remained under pressure, while S&P 500 futures were little changed following a rally in the previous session after Democrats secured a sweeping victory in the midterm elections.
By 07:30 ET (11:30 GMT), Nasdaq 100 futures had dropped 197 points, or 0.7%, while S&P 500 futures were little changed. Dow futures advanced 263 points, or 0.5%.
Here are some of the biggest premarket U.S. stock movers today:
Qualcomm shares fell about 9% in premarket trading after smartphone chip sales missed Wall Street expectations, raising concerns that weakness in its core handset business could offset growth in newer areas such as data-center chips.
Revenue from the company’s handset division, its largest business, fell 26% to $5.14 billion, dragging chip segment sales down 8% to $9.02 billion. Qualcomm is facing pressure from rising memory costs, driven by strong data-center demand, as well as slower smartphone sales.
Snap shares tumbled 9.8% in premarket trading to $5.34 after the Snapchat parent reported third-quarter results that fell short of expectations on revenue and user growth.
Revenue came in at $1.72 billion, just below analysts’ estimate of $1.73 billion, while daily active users reached 495 million, missing the 499 million expected by Wall Street. Advertising revenue grew just 4% year over year, slowing from 9% growth in the previous quarter.

MNTN also announced leadership changes, appointing board member Tony Weisman as CEO and confirming the departures of COO Chris Innes and Chief Revenue Officer Garland Hill.
