JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM) has filed for a patent on a form of payment system that in many ways resembles virtual currency Bitcoin, reports FT. The patent was filed in August of this year but was only recently made public. The system is being viewed as an alternative to credit cards and debit cards. To some, this illustrates weakness in Bitcoin, as alternatives emerge. To others, it suggests the validity to virtual currencies as the wave of the future.
