Fed's Kohn Comments on Financial System at Annaul Monetary Conference
Speaking at the Cato Institute's 26th Annual Monetary Conference being held today, the Federal Reserve's Vice Chairman Donald Kohn, made numerous comments in regards to how further policy could alleviate pressures in the financial markets:
- the Fed should look at additional forms of quantitative easing if deflation becomes a possibility
- there's no reason the Fed can't 'blow up' the size of its balance sheet
- paying interest on reserves is not stemming bank lending
