Failed Time Square Bombing Could Bring 'Fear Trade' Back
A failed car bomb attempt this weekend in New York's Time Square could put domestic terrorism fears back in the market.
On Saturday police found smoke coming out of a Nissan Pathfinder with a powerful mixture of propane and gasoline, that if ignited properly could have lead to deaths in the congested area.
Homeland security secretary Janet Napolitano called the incident a "one-off", saying there is no evidence of a continued threat to the area.
Following the attack, Pakistani Taliban promised future attacks on major U.S. cities and appeared to have claimed responsibility for the failed Time Square attempt.
Police are investigating a suspicious white male in his 40s walking away from the area, and U.S. authorities have downplayed a potential connection between the Taliban and the failed attack.
