Investing.com -- Emergent Biosolutions Inc (NYSE: EBS) shares dropped 1292% Friday after the company announced that Chief Financial Officer Richard Lindahl will retire at the end of 2026.
Frank Vargo, vice president and treasurer, will assume the role of interim CFO effective January 1, 2027. Lindahl will serve as a senior executive advisor from January through March 2027 to support the transition.
Lindahl joined Emergent in 2018 and has served as CFO since that time. Prior to Emergent, he held CFO and senior finance roles at CEB and Sprint Nextel Corporation. He currently serves on the board of directors of Compass Therapeutics, Inc.
Vargo, 43, joined Emergent in December 2019 as Director of Corporate FP&A and G&A. He was named vice president and treasurer in November 2025. Before joining the company, Vargo held finance positions at Under Armour, Inc. and in the aerospace and defense industry.
The company said the leadership transition reflects its continued execution of a multi-year transformation plan focused on strengthening the business and improving operating performance.
Joe Papa, president and CEO of Emergent, said the company is grateful Lindahl will continue to advise during the first quarter of 2027. Papa added that Vargo has been integral in driving strategic priorities forward since joining the company.
In connection with his promotion to interim CFO, Emergent's board approved additional compensation of $3,850 per pay period for Vargo on top of his current base salary of $328,000, effective January 1, 2027.
