Investing.com -- Dyne Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: DYN) shares gained 2.1% in after-hours trading Tuesday following the release of one-year trial data for its experimental DM1 treatment z-basivarsen.

The clinical-stage biotechnology company reported functional improvement data from the multiple ascending dose portion of its Phase 1/2 ACHIEVE trial, showing positive results across multiple measures at 12 months.

The pooled dose group of 25-26 participants demonstrated a mean decrease of 3.2 seconds in video hand opening time at 6 months from a baseline of 8.2 seconds, compared to an increase of 0.4 seconds in the placebo group, representing a 3.6 second relative improvement. The data were presented at the World Muscle Society Congress and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine Annual Meeting.

At 12 months, participants showed improvement of 1.2 seconds on the 5 times sit to stand test and 0.3 seconds on the 10-meter walk/run test relative to baseline. Muscle strength improved by 4.8% on both quantitative muscle testing total score and hand grip score, showing divergence from a matched natural history cohort.

The company continues to expect topline data in the first quarter of 2027 from the ACHIEVE registrational expansion cohort, with a primary endpoint of change from baseline in video hand opening time at 6 months. This data is intended to support a potential submission for U.S. Accelerated Approval in the third quarter of 2027.

The mean baseline video hand opening time in the ACHIEVE registrational expansion cohort is 8.3 seconds. Z-basivarsen continued to demonstrate a favorable safety profile, with no related serious treatment emergent adverse events identified.

Dyne's global Phase 3 HARMONIA study is currently recruiting participants at over 35 active global sites.
