Dow Continues Roller Coaster Ride After Falling Below 8,000 Earlier
After crossing below the 8,000 level at the start of trading, the Dow managed a remarkable comeback only to give up much of those gains again as the day progressed. The Dow currently sits down 469 points, to 8100.
Yesterday's 678 point Dow decline, on top of weeks of immense selling, has investors around the globe reeling. Asian markets felt heavy pressure with the Nikkei closing down 9.6% and the Hang Seng losing 7.2%. European markets were also much weaker today.
One main concern is driving the weakness across the world --- that concern is that the credit crisis will spread to the real economy with customers unable to get access to credit and businesses unable to fund themselves.
