The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed above 10,000 today for the first time in more than a year. The Dow closed at 10,015.90, just a short seven months after hitting a 12-year low in March.
The Dow is now up 55% from its March low, but remains 29% below its October 2007 peak of 14,164.
Traders have called the market's rise the "greatest reversal of investor sentiment in history."
The Dow first finished above 10,000 on March 29, 1999. The NYSE is calling this move above 10,000 - "Dow 10,000 2.0" and have passed out hats reading such.
Better-than-expected quarterly earnings results from chip giant Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) and bank giant JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM) propelled today's move above the 10,000 level.
