China has kept all trade commitments, says Bessent
Investing.com -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday that China has fulfilled all its commitments in trade negotiations so far, while expressing the Trump administration’s desire for China to rebalance on trade.
In an interview with Fox Business Network, Bessent emphasized that the Chinese "have lived up to every part of negotiations so far."
The Treasury Secretary noted that the administration would like to see China rebalance its trade approach, specifically by increasing domestic consumption.
Bessent suggested that both countries could work together on this rebalancing effort, stating that the U.S. and China "could rebalance together" to achieve "a very good equilibrium on trade."
The comments come as the Trump administration continues to focus on U.S.-China trade relations, a key priority during the President’s first term and current agenda.
